Eagle Tree Park
‘Develop a unique playspace design that would create a destination and community hub’ was the initial brief by Cusp Landscape Architects for this new Stockland development in Coomera. ‘Innovative and in tune with the natural surrounds, with areas for imaginative play, sensory play as well as more traditional play equipment, the area should cater for young children through to teenagers, providing a range of experiences for all ability levels’.
And so started a solid collaboration between Cusp, Stockland and Playscape Creations to deliver a result that would promote health, exercise and skill development with an emphasis on challenge in a fun and safe environment. High quality and robust equipment was essential to allow for a long lifecycle and minimal maintenance cost in the short and long term.
Playscape Creations’ in-house team were able to complete the full layout plan, elevations, schedules and 3D representations and in turn to be able to work alongside successful contractors Interface Landscapes throughout the construction phase. Endless rain presented its challenges during construction, but a committed team pressed on to deliver this community’s dream playspace.
Opening day saw a packed park and playground, and residents and visitors from far and wide attracted to this destination’s ability to cater for all. Not everyone has to join the commotion of the main play structure with an adjacent junior play area, sensory play area, basketball half court and rolling green lawns.
A fantastic article from Kids on the Coast sums up the success of this park and the ongoing role it will play in connecting this rapidly expanding community. Healthy, active, connected communities are happier communities and we applaud Stockland for their vision and commitment in this regard. It was fantastic to be involved, and we wish the residents and visitors to Eagle Tree Park many years of happy playing!
